Sarva Shiksha Gram inaugurated in Katihar, Bihar

New Delhi / 8-09-2016 Popular Front of India chairman K. M. Shareef inaugurated Sarva Shiksha Gram (SSG) project in two villages of Bihar, Thuthibagh and Chotigidamar in Katihar district.  

Education being the key for any empowerment initiative, was accorded high priority and thrust by the Front in its community development plan. Various programmes like School chalo, higher education scholarship, and Sarva shiksha Gram were designed and implemented during last many years.  Sarva Shiksha Gram is to ensure 100% primary education in educationally backward villages where literacy and school enrollment are  low and dropout rate is high. Educationally backward villages like Thuthibagh and Chotigidamari were identified during the year-long School Chalo national campaign. Both the villages Thuthibagh and Chhotigidamari come under Block Barari, and Panchayat Sukhashan.

Out of 300 families in Thuthibagh, children between age group of 5 to 16 years are 600, but 213 are drop outs. All this drop outs mostly are Muslims and Adivasis. Thuthibagh has a primary school in temporary shed. The people and students suffer a lot because there is no electricity in this village. Chotigidamari has a population of 150 families and the children between age group of 5 to 16 are 350.   75 among them are drop outs. All this droup outs are also either Muslims or Adivasis.

K. M. Shareef inaugurated the Educare Centre both in Thuthibagh and Chotigidamari. He told that it is a matter of pleasure that both Adivasis and Muslims joined hands together for their development. In his speech he explained the community development projects and requested both the villagers to come forward and utilize Sarva Shiksha Gram project. Panchayath Mukkiya Mohammed Iliyas appreciated Popular Front of India for identifying Thuthibagh and Chotigidamari as project areas. He assured that a new primary school building will soon be constructed.  

National Treasurer Khalid Rashadi and Bihar state president Usman Ghani of Popular Front also shared the stage.  Zonal secretary of Popular Front Mahabub Nadvi concluded the inaugural programme.
