Thousands defy the ban and participated in Unity March

Popular Front of India day was celebrated all over the nation on February 17. As part of the celebrations, rally and public meeting was planned at Chennai and Dindugal. The police denied the permission on trivial and frivolous grounds.

Popular Front of India approached the court for the permission, but the petition was dismissed initially. Popular Front of India later made an appeal at the Chennai High Court. The court directed the police to consider the petition. Popular Front later sought permission to conduct the program on March 14 at Chennai. But the police did not consider the petition on proper means and denied permission to satisfy the Sangh Parivar elements.

Thousands defied the police denial and gathered near the Rajarathnam stadium to participate in the rally. The police arrested the participants. Popular Front State President Mohamed Ismail said that the struggle for justice against the anti-democratic policy of the State police will continue.

Popular Front of India’s General Secretary Mohamed Ali Jinnah, State Vice President Khaled Mohamed, State General Secretary Mohamed Shaik Ansari, Thiyagu of Tamil Desiya Viduthalai Iyakkam, SDPI State Secretary Ameer Hamza, Convenor of Confederation of Islamic Movements and political parties Mohamed Haneefa participated in the program.

Similarly, the permission was also denied at Dindigul on March 15. Popular Front cadres and thousands of public were arrested by the police.
